A comfortable B & B in the heart of Inverness, Scotland
ROTH-ACH – open for bookings from 1 May 2010
Roth-Ach is a detached house set high above the village of Avoch on the Black Isle and enjoying spectacular, unbroken views across the whole of the Inner Moray Firth. The 10 minute drive from Inverness takes you down the spine of the Black Isle through rolling countryside and breath-taking coastal views.
The house, while being very secluded up a quiet side road, is nevertheless conveniently situated within a 2 - 3 minute walk of the centre of the charming fishing village of Avoch with stores, post office, pub and eateries and the busy little harbour just on the other side of the village from where dolphin spotting cruises start.

The interior has been completely renovated by the new owners with the emphasis on comfort and convenience. The large modern kitchen and dining room look out over the view to the south from a picture window. Here you will find all that you need to make your holiday as relaxing as possible – dishwasher, American fridge/freezer, wine-cooler and state of the art induction hob and oven. The adjoining utility room has washing machine and tumble drier.
At present we are awaiting the construction of a large conservatory to the west end of the house which is planned for completion before our first guests arrive.
Three of the four double/twin bedrooms enjoy gorgeous views over the Firth with seabirds wheeling below, the occasional vessel ploughing up to Inverness and frequent sightings of seals, dolphins and red kites. Ospreys stray here on occasions from the Cairngorms on the other side of the firth and provide an aerial display. To the east, the lighthouse at Chanonry Point at the end of Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf course is clearly visible with beyond it, Fort George. All of this is set against a backdrop of the Cairngorm Mountains. The fourth bedroom is downstairs with wheelchair access from the front door and its own bathroom also on the ground floor.

Outside we have so far adapted the sloping garden to provide a seating and barbecue area by means of patio and decking. Access to this area is from the lounge with floor to ceiling sliding doors and steps down to the patio. Further landscaping is due to take place shortly making the rest of the garden more accessible.
For cool autumn evenings, the lounge has a superb wood burning stove and a further feature is a large widescreen TV with Freeview channels. The view from this room again is to die for.
